Steamboat Annie is a local cover band, co formed in 2005 by the brother and sister duo of Kelly Callan (lead and backing vocals) and Johnny Callan (drums and percussion). Recent additons, Michael Laster (Bass and vocals), Mike Vivial (keyboards and vocals) and Michael Duva (guitars and vocals) round out the lineup. Steamboat Annie is a versatile act performing songs from various genres and eras. Their upbeat repertoire moves an audience to dance and sing along. Whether it’s the classics of the 60’s and 70’s from such acts as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling Stones or your favorites from the 80’s, 90’s and even the new millennium, Steamboat Annie crosses the broad spectrum of music to please each member of an audience.
Kelly and Johnny have been performing together for years. Their wealth of experience and unique chemistry provide the formula for a mature and refined sound. Their history traces back to the band Gear (a fan favorite for years in Northeast Philadelphia). Johnny was a founding member of the band and was joined soon thereafter by his sister Kelly. Previously, Kelly had been the lead vocalist for the country band, 90 Proof. During that time, she also traveled to Nashville to record an album (Rust and Rhymes) and has been nominated numerous times as the area’s best female performer. After Gear disbanded, they went on to form the Jinx and now Steamboat Annie. Johnny is also the drummer for the DeVry Corporate Band, The Teachers. They won the midwest finals of the Coporate Band of the Year Finals and had the pleasure of going on to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame to compete in the National Finals.
Michael Laster is no stranger to the Steamboat Annie family as he is back for his second run with the band. He originally joined in 2010 after playing in acts like Bottoms Up, The Jinx and Almost Famous. After a nearly 2 year hiatus, he has returned, along with his thunderous bass sound and pocket playing that, along with Johnny, creates a top notch rhythm section.
The newest members, Michael Duva and Mike Vivial, have just begun their musical journey with the band. Michael has over 40 years experience singing and playing guitar. He was the lead singer and guitartist in the late 80's and early 90's original band Savage Attraction, who opened for many national acts. He went on to play with On the Rocks, Velvet Sky, and most recently The Decades dance band. In addition to his guitar playing, Michael adds his great harmonies and lead vocals to the band. Mike Vivial brings 47 years of classically trained piano and keyboard skills to the table, which opens up a whole new genre of possibilities. He also plays keys for huge tribute acts such as Land of Ozz and Van Halen Nation, as well as performing with the Buddy Cash Band. His previous bands include 70's Rewind and Like Totally 80's band.
Steamboat Annie is able to reproduce your favorites to a tee while also adding their own signature sound to songs. Steamboat Annie is a self-contained band with their own sound and light production. While their sound may be larger than life, the band itself is able to squeeze on the smallest stage or fill the largest room. Come and partake in the fun and excitement that is Steamboat Annie!
